We do not share, sell or rent customer information of any kind with anyone. We do not share your name or personal information to any third party unless required by the law or believed by us to be necessary for legal compliance or in good faith. We do not sell, rent or provide third-party access to our email mailing list or any data we store. Any data stored or generated by a user on this site is owned by us until unless negated by the law. By creating any content or comment on this site, you agree to pass on the full ownership and right to use to this website.
What personal data do we collect and what do we do with it?
When you use one of our forms to sign up to our mailing list we collect your first name and email address. You will receive several introductory emails following sign up, then an email whenever a new article is posted. You can expect to receive approximately one email per week. The country where you signed up is also stored. This enables us to see the demographic of visitors to the website so that we can tailor our content accordingly.
When leaving a comment on our website we collect your name, email address and (optionally) your website address. This enables us to connect to the Gravatar service to pull through your profile picture, and create a hyperlink to your website (see ‘Comments’ section below).
How Long We Retain Your Data For
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
The following information may be collected through your device and browser:
- Your device’s IP address
- Device, operating system and browser screen size
- Device type (unique device identifiers) and bowser information
- Geographic location (country only)
- Preferred language used to display the webpage
Low Carb Africa uses Google Analytics and Google Webmasters for website monitoring. We can analyse the IP address, type of browser, date/time, pages visited, amount of clicks, referring pages, exit pages, and other information that is completely anonymous. Visitors can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize Google Display Network ads using Google’s Ad Settings page. Users can completely block Google Analytics tracking using Google’s Opt-out browser add-on. We also use Facebook advertising and retargeting. Cookies and pixels are used to understand and deliver ads and make them more relevant to you. We may also use a cookie to learn whether someone who saw an ad on Facebook later visited our website.
Low Carb Africa uses Google Adwords for advertising and retargeting or remarketing. Cookies and data are used to track your visits to this site and other websites without saving any personally identifiable information. We may use this data for showing you advertisements about our website or associates.
Amazon Affiliate Links
Our website is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. On our website there are links to products on the Amazon website which we have recommended or profiled. When you click through to the Amazon website from one of these product links we make a small amount of commission if you go on to purchase the product. However, the price you pay will be exactly the same as if you had gone directly to the Amazon website.
If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please contact us.
